Paulo Coelho; A Journey From Drug Addiction TO Authorship
Paulo Coelho, a 69 years old Brazilian, is a novelist and
lyricist.
Paulo Coelho is a best-selling author especially known for
his master work The Alchemist which
is translated into 100 plus languages.
Paulo Coelho‘s life story is so touchy and common like most
of the person’s aiming to pursue passion and success in life.
His life story is about: How can one go from law school to
mental institution? How can one stand bravely against illogical traditions? How
he came back to life for pursuing his writing career from drug addiction?
Paulo Coelho was born into a catholic family who were very
strict in terms of religion and faith. His father was an engineer and wanted
his son follow his path or become a lawyer. At age 17, he told his parents
about his passion for writing and his introversion in following tradition; as a
result, he was admitted in a mental institution from where he escaped 3 times. He
was enrolled in a law school but he left and started drugs and travelling;
while travelling he got inspiration to write lyrics and scripts.
Later on, he wrote some novels and published them. His first
novels failed miserably but he did not gave up on writing upto the time he gave
a best-selling novel The Alchemist that sold millions of copies and was
translated into 100 plus languages.
Paulo Coelho is married to an artist and he runs Paulo Coelho
Organization with a purpose to educate children.
