The Pentagon; World's Largest Office Building & The Defense Department Of USA

The pentagon is the headquarters of The United States Department of Defense which is located in the Virginia across the Potomac River.

Pentagon is built on 600,000 m2 land and the construction work started in September 11, 1941. The building has five sides with five floor above the ground and two basement levels. It is considered as one the largest office buildings in the world with 20,000 military and 3,000 civilian employee.

Hall of heroes is a hall in the second floor of the pentagon which is dedicated to all the medal honors of the 3 forces (army version, sea version and air force version) of the United States. More than 3,460 medal recipients’ names are decorated in the hall; on the other hand, retirement and promotion ceremonies of the high officials are held in this hall.

September 11, 2001, was the 60th anniversary of the The Pentagon and a tragic terrorist act happened inside The Pentagon that killed 70 military and 59 civilians; on the other hand, twin tower was blown and 2,996 people were killed.

After 2001, PFPA (Pentagon Force Protection Agency) was established with a purpose to protect The Pentagon.

Pentagon has got food services from McDonald, KFC, Dunkin Donuts and other fast food services for its employees and a fitness center for exercise; on the other hand, a meditation and prayers room was added to pentagon for prayers and meditation.

The Pentagon is an administrative building of the United States which observes and controls the United States security.
