Statue of Liberty; A Symbol Of Human Liberation & A Historical Gift By France
Statue of Liberty, is a neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island
with the height of 151 feet and 1 feet, in New York City, USA. The statue is made of copper and it was gifted
from France to the United States of America. The sculpture was designed by
world famous sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi and it was built by Gustave
Eiffel, the man who made Eiffel tower in Paris, and was placed on October 28,
1886.
The statue is the sculpture of a Roman goddess who holds a
torch with her right hand above her head and carries a book on her left hand
where the date of USA’s Independence Day (July 4, 1776) is engraved in Roman
and with a broken chain in her legs. The torch is the symbol of bright future
and the broken chain is the symbol of liberty.
The statue of Liberty became an icon of freedom and a
welcoming sign for international immigrants.
Around the Statue of Liberty, a park has been made in the
name of national park and hundreds of thousands of tourists visit this
historical place annually but unfortunately this place has been closed for
public visit several times because of security reasons.
